Testing policy

Carnegie Mellon uses a special testing policy for students matriculating in 2027.

Testing policy varies by undergraduate college/program: the School of Computer Science requires SAT or ACT; the College of Fine Arts is test optional; and most other undergraduate colleges/programs are test flexible, requiring standardized results but allowing alternatives such as AP, IB, A-Level, or other specified exams instead of SAT/ACT.

This policy applies to students matriculating in Fall 2026 or later.
